How to Find Cheap Halloween Costumes on Craigslist

Whether you are a parent looking to outfit your kid for Halloween or if you are an adult who wants an awesome costume for a Halloween party, expect to spend a pretty penny.  If you don’t have that extra money to spend, I recommended Craigslist.  You might be surprised how many unique costumes you can find at an affordable price.

So, how can you find these costumes?

To get started, visit Craigslist.org.  Choose your location by selecting your state and nearest city.  Over on the left-hand side of the page, you will see a search box.  Your searches are automatically set to search “for sale” items.  All you need to do is enter in a search phrase.  For the best results, use nothing more than the words “Halloween” or “costume.”

After submitting your search, you will see a list of headlines.  Most sellers are descriptive here, meaning you should be able to tell right away whether the costume is for a baby, toddler, child, teenager, or adult.  You should also get some idea what the costume is about, like Mickey Mouse or a cheerleader.

Once you find a costume (based on the headline) you think you’d like, click for more information.  Inside, you should see a picture, a brief description of the costume’s condition, and a method of contact.  If you like what you see, use the provided phone number or email address.  Around this time, cheap Halloween costumes are in high demand, so you want to act quick.

For the most part, buying Halloween costumes from Craigslist is a great way to save money.  Not only that, you are likely to find some like-new costumes.  Think about it, most people (especially children) wear a costume once.  The only wear and tear you may notice is some slight discoloring or fading from a couple of washes.

In short, not only can you find cheap Halloween costumes on Craigslist, but you can find unique costumes too.  If unique is what you are looking for, that woman who came across her Halloween costume from 15 years ago and listed it on Craigslist may have just what you need!

Note:  When looking for unique, hard-to-find, or vintage Halloween costumes, your best option is to use a Craigslist search tool.  These search apps let you search multiple locations with one search.  For a unique, hard-to-find, or vintage costume, you may need to drive an hour or two for pickup or arrange for the seller to ship the costume to your home.

  10. First determine the energy gained by the electron:
    Use the equation: PE=q*V
    The voltage is given: 1.10 kV
    The charge of an electron is: -1.60217648740e-19 C (Take the positive value)
    PE = 1.60217648740e-19 C * 1.10 kV = 1.76239414e-16 J

    a) Without considering relativistic effects conversion of PE to KE is simply using KE = mv²/2
    mass of electron: 9.1093821545e-31 kg
    v = sqrt(2*KE/m) = sqrt(2*1.76239414e-16 J / 9.1093821545e-31 kg)
    v = 19 670 801.5 m/s

    b) When you take relativistic effects into account, the speed of the electrons would be less than the result in a, since when an object approaches the speed of light, its mass increases.
    Given a constant KE, as m increases, v decreases.

    c) The relativistic KE of a particle is
    KE = mc² – m0*c²
    where m0 is the resting mass of the particle
    KE/c² = (m-m0)
    1.76239414e-16 J / c² = 1.96092794e-33kg

    Hence:
    m-m0 = 1.96092794e-33kg
    The mass of the electron has increased by 1.96092794e-33 kg
    New mass of electron is:
    9.1093821545e-31 kg + 1.96092794e-33 kg = 9.12899143e-31kg

    Plug it back into the equation v = sqrt(2*KE/m)
    v = sqrt(2*KE/m) = sqrt(2*1.76239414e-16 J / 9.12899143e-31kg)
    v = 19 649 663.5 m/s
